I found it to be a tourist trap myself, and don't give money to the kids, because it promotes the practice of parents forcing them to work.
The one place I did enjoy seeing was the blow hole at the ocean.

Hussongs, Rock and Roll Taco. The blow hole is called the Bufadora (sp?), very tourist-ee. Ensenada is nice and clean. Make sure to get some tacitos from a stand, you don't have to go to a restaurant. Also the fresh fish carts are great for shrimp and seafood cocktails.

Not much there. Don't drink the water or eat anything with ice in it. Drink only from bottles. I got sick from drinking a margarita with ice. Too much poverty for me. Shopping was ok. But I wouldn't recommend going there to anyone.
Try Puerto Vallarta. Much nicer place. More to do and great beaches.
