Do they credit check u even if u just want to do a month to month, and not sign a lease? Do they credit check u even for a low income apt.? Me and my friends are wanting to get a place together, but we all have bad credit... what should we do? All of us are working, but haven't been at our jobs but maybe a couple months... Any advice?

This is for Ohio, near the dayton area...

I do a credit check on all serious applicants, whether on month to month or year leases. For Section 8 or other low income tenants, I still do the check; I like to know if the renters have bad credit and if they do, who did they stiff. If it was a credit card company, it is "better" than if they ever owed a landlord.

Some places will run the check just as a precaution and others will not lease to you even on a month-to-month.

.If you are serious about it however, try talking to the supervisor and maybe for a serious deposit you can get the place anyway.

They just want to know that you will pay on time, not trash the place, and not split owing the rent later on.

a lot of corporate owned complexes do credit checks, someone renting a home out privately often do not. but just about all landlords due have you sign a lease, it can be a nightmare for them if they do not.
