Depending on how long you've owned the home and the terms on the previous owners policy; you may be able to file for damages caused during the time their policy was active. Especially since they used the wrong product, you may be able to file and have the insurance pay for the damage and repairs. Call your Realtor tomorrow and shower in the other bathroom until you get the answer.
Since you are going to cut out and replace I'd use 75% bleach 25% water in a spray bottle and keep it wet for at least 15 minutes. Just be aware once you kill the mold, the spores (the part the people are allergic to) are still there and people are STILL allergic even if they are dead! Clean and package carefully. That is why True HEPA filtering is used to vacuum and remove the spores before they are packaged. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!

If water and bleach do not take out the mold, you must remove the tile board or whatever has the mold. Replace it with new, and you will have to get premixed (easier to work with)wallboard mix to close the cracks between pieces of wallboard. There is special wall board for bathrooms, and if you are going to re-tile, you will need something for it to attach. Someone in that business would have to give you the correct names for what you need. P.S. you could possibly sue someone for saying there is no mold, when there is. Depends on your state and if you purchased the house.

You don't kill the mold, it must be removed with caution. Use rubber gloves and if it is dry ,flaky or powdery use a respirator so your not breathing this stuff. All tiles must be removed, "ALL" water damaged areas must be removed and replaced. Not just the areas that have visible signs of mold but, all areas that show "any" signs of water damage at all. It just takes 1 mold spore (that you cant see) and a moist environment for it to take hold and start growing all over again.

First you need to determine what caused the mold and how extensive the infestation is. Then after eliminating the cause, wash the wall in a diluted bleach solution (bleach and water). Be sure to open the windows and/or have the exhaust fan on as chlorine gas is very toxic when inhaled.

bleach in water as suggested by the lady, use gloves as it will make your hands stink. Also make sure the room is well ventilated (open windows and doors) as the fumes can be overpowering.
Also make sure of the cause it is possible there is a leak behind the wall causing the problem and that would also make the tiles fall off.

Bleach is the answer. It will kill anything. Scrape as much mold off as possible first, then apply the bleach over what is left. In no time the mold will be killed at it's very base and you can retile without worry.

Best thing to do is replace the wall with new wall board. Mold could have gotten all the way to the other side and cleaning it would be useless, plus dangerous. Mold can cause alot of health problems if not dealt with properly. Cleaning it won't make it go away. Replace it and be safe.

Use 1part bleach,1 part liquid dishdetergent, and 1 gallon water. This also works great on the outside of your home, be careful to not get on vegetation though.
