Maybe, just maybe, those are not the reasons you are a retarded social outcast.
Try again only think of the real reasons this time.

I personally never thought of people being open minded as a sign of retardation. And if you speak either the French language or the Spanish language you have one up on the vast majority of Americans. If you speak both French AND Spanish you are doing so well you just have to be proud.
Maybe the misfits are the people who you think you should fit in with.
I don't know anybody in New York, but I did have interesting conversations with people FROM New York.
I find prejudiced and abusive people everywhere, most of them are just having a bad day or just need to have a few kind words and an unexpected good experience with the people they hate, and they start getting over it.
One thing many of my friends from New York said and it makes a lot of sense, the place is so crowded, and noisy, if somebody talks to you on the street, or even makes eye contact, it is considered rude. In Texas it is the opposite, rank strangers talk to you on the bus or on the street, come up and offer to shake your hand, but of course, that is changing. That was the start of the conversations about the differences between NYC and Ft Worth.

French is important in France and it's dependencies + a few neighboring countries, Quebec, and half of Africa. Spanish is important in Spain and the western hemisphere south of the United states. Although, I would not say Spanish is important in Brazil (part of Latin America) English and French are the two most commonly used languages in the UN, although Spanish is also an official UN language. I would still have to say Spanish is a little more Important.

Huh, you let people like that steal your joy and self-esteem?! It's time to find a new crew to hang with. People in NYC are not more prejudiced or dishonest than people elsewhere (besides most of the people in this city are coming, or have come, from "elsewhere"), though they may suffer from the "too many rats in the cage syndrome" and can be kind of abrupt. I've live in NY all my life and believe me, there are literally hundreds of thousands of people that would like the things you do and are able to do. And there are just as many people that are nice to be with all over the place. Start going to places you think people like that would be and soon you'll be wondering why you asked this question. I wouldn't give those people trying to drag you down a passing thought (aside from pity and a prayer for enlightenment) and surely wouldn't let them rob my mental peace of mind.

typically you can see the complete ignorance and intolerance of an individual when they use the term "retarded" in an attempt to mock something different than they are used to.
people in NYC are all types of things; diverse, short-fused, biggoted, tall, short, skinny, fat...it's NYC!
sounds like a case of envy to me and juvenile to say the least. I listen to Donovan, talk to German people, am 1st generation Irish-American and I wear argyle socks - think I care what others think? Not so much.
Be who you are and be proud of who you are! And remember that when someone calls you "retarded" they are basically telling you how low their IQ is.

I think that you should listen to anything and associate with whoever you desire and it shouldnt matter what anyone else think, for it is your life and your happiness...not theirs.
