It is hard to say, but her philosophies are certainly better than the religious right infection today in America.

I think her ideas were extremely conservative but very original if that makes any sense. I thought that the Fountainhead was a great book but it had its flaws. The capitalist hero is flawed because we must remember that all people, in the end are flawed and fragile. I think that it depends what your ideas are. If you love the American dream Ayn Rand is for you. I think she potrayed kindness toward humanity as a flaw which many American buisness men do too. Personally I think that her neo conservative ideas represented the greediness of the American Dream. In the end I would probably go with a little Genius, and a little capitalist terror.

Anyone who picks a railway company as a symbol of capitalistic success must have a reality problem.

As with all extreme views, it just isn't realistic. The world cannot survive in black and white modes. I love her theories, but that's exactly what they are--they aren't practical. I love her novels because she is so passionate about her views. But as a way of life, I just don't think it is possible unless you make some major compromises and provisions.
