Me and good woman beat clothes on rocks in the river. Sometimes smell fishy but that okay keeps away nosy neigbors and brings bear in closer so me can get new bearskin coat. When smell get too intense, my woman use Tide........heh heh heh

Yes, use Dreft, or Ivory Snow, because regular detergents contain so many chemicals and fragrances that can irritate newborn skin. And I always ran the baby clothes through a second rinse cycle too, to be sure to get all the detergent out.
