Had the same question so I did some research. The song is called Too Much and it's by Pepper.

um, there's a song that sounds like that on the '10 things i hate about you soundtrack' as well. Band is Letters to Cleo, song's called I Want You to Want Me. Could be a cover though, i'm not sure
