Many of the educated do get employment now. The scenario is much better now, among the urban middle class. What is depressing and distressing is the scenario in the rural areas. Agriculture is in doldrums. It is no logner remunerative. The farmers are falling into a debt trap with a result that there are more and more of suicides. There is an exodus to the urban centres. That explains so many migrant labourers from Bihar moving as far as to Assam, where they are an easy targets of the ULFA. Bihar is a higly fertile land with no scarcity of water. Yet, they are not able to cultivate and survive. Agriculture is the mainstay of our economy. Unless agriculture is sustained, we cannot generate more employment. Agriculture production alone will be able to employment to millions of people directly and indirectly by supplying their produces to industries. The sooner some special attention is bestowed to this sector, the better for the economic health of this country.

Liberalization has already set in motion the process of employment generation but that is confined to metro and big cities because of preference of MNCs to locate their operations there.

The question of eridcating unemployment while keeping in mind the poverty, population and bias factor is very confusing since these factors along with literacy level causes UNEMPLOYMENT. If poverty can be reduced, population growth can be controlled, biased attitude of vested interests can be changed and literacy level can be increased - unemployment will cease to exist. So it needs sustained efforts on the part of govt, business, society and individuals to first tackle these issues. Govt's efforts to control population growth and free education upto certain level have fallen on deaf ears. There is no magic band to remove poverty and to change the biased attitude overnight. Conclusion is arrived that with lesser population and poverty level, employment opportuniteis can be generated. And an aware society can remove the biased attitude of certain vested interests.
