What do they call a person that studies meteorites???

Meteors originally were all atmospheric phenomena. There were hydrometeors - rain, hail, snow, dew, fog etc and igneous meteors which included lightning, shooting stars and the aurora. The person who studied meteors was a meteorologist. The name has stuck even though the term "meteor" is now only used for shooting stars which are about the only thing on the old list not studied by meteorologists

Funny enough, it's a geologist who specializes in meteoritics. Go figure.
(astrophysicist studies the physics of the universe, a comsochemist studies the chemical interactions of the universe, and an astronomer is just another, more archaic, word for astrophysicist.)

if he studies them while they are still in space then he is an astronomer
if he studies the rocky material after its hit earth then hes a geologist
