Pit bulls attack people. Even their owners and babies. They aren't brave, just stupid. Shephards are brave. Pit Bulls have never been used as service dogs to save people or help the blind.

If a person is like the dog they own. I feel that a pit bull owner must exhibit the lack of qualites that the pit bull represents. Who argees?

I agree, so many owners say "I have had pitbulls and never had a problem" there is a reason they are mainly used in dog fights instead of something like a cockerspaniel. Some dogs have it in their nature to fight, they will get sudden, random and EXTREME bursts of adrenaline and lash out at people.
Even if you raised them as a pup it does not matter, what about that guy who owned a pet tiger and alligator in his New York apartment. A full grown tiger, we all go "what an idiot he would get killed!" of course seeing he owned it he says "no no i raised it from a cub" and even after it tore the guys arms open so much you could see the bone he still was trying hard to scrape up excuses as to why the tiger did it refusing to believe the fact tigers have the urge to eat other animals.
There is a reason why most people who are attacked by dogs are attacked by pit bulls and funnily enough the majority of people who are attacked were the owners them selves or friends of the family.
Some dogs have it in them to be lovable and cuddly and rarely aggressive due to their genetic makeup others were bread for fighting like the pit bull, why take the gamble?
Shepherds are all very similar, they are very protective of their owners, hounds are all alike they all have a great sense of smell, you can see the very distinct characteristics of each species of dog and pitbulls characteristic is they're bread for fighting.
Not all pitbulls will attack their owners but a lot of them do which is why the statistics are that more people are mauled by pit bulls than most other breeds of dog.

What a thought provoking question! Honestly? No. Not once. Not even. Know why? Because she is exercised, disciplined and loved. She is very socialized with people and other animals outside our home. I have watched her 'fight' with my 6 year old Dachshund. Out of all my dogs he is the only one that challenges. But there is never any blood. She could have killed him dozen of times if she had it in her. My 17 lb Shih Tzu mix can alpha roll her. She absolutely loves people. She would go with anyone. She is crazy for kids and wiggles all over when she sees a kid. She wiggles all over when she sees the cats. No, I have no doubt in my mind this American Pit Bull Terrier that I adopted will ever become another 'statistic'. I would bet my life on it. And I forgot to say just one last thing. They are the most gorgeous dogs I have ever seen. I love the APBT.

I read a study that I cannot find now (of course), that said that pit bull owners were 3 times likelier to have arrests and convictions for violent crimes such as assault, burglary, ect. I don't have a pit. I live in a small town and my neighbors have 2 that live down the street about 3 blocks. I have seen them attack cats, smaller dogs, a single larger dog, about anything that wanders into their path. Mostly they are kept chained to a tree, because she don't have or take the time to deal with them. I don't know if their behavior is because she don't deal with them and socialize them or if it is inbred like everyone says. I honestly think that most animals, like most people, can be socialized appropriately or inappropriately. They can be taught unsociable behavior very very easily. As anything else can.

My pitbull is the ultimate puss. He's afraid not only of my cats and other people's small dogs, but also my 1-year-old kitten. He's never been abused, (since we've had him, anyway) yet he cowers to everything on two legs. He whimpers when it's dark and stuff. I talked to a friend of mine about it and she said her pitbull was the same way. I'm a total cat person, and maybe it's just my experience, but I've found pits to be lovable, and I HATE dogs.

I HATE people who own pitbull for looks. I live in place where there's fairly large amount of pitbull owners (I'm really surprise there's no real record of dog fighting so far...) What piss me off most is when I walk and they walk pass me, they would move close to me with the dog to try scare me. Use to work in kennel, I'm not afaird of dogs, I would simply look at the owner in eyes, it usually make them feel like a idiot.

a person is not like the dog they own. the dog is like the person that owns it. may seem like a subtle difference to you, but it's a huge difference. the bad habits and stupidity aren't inborn to the pit bull. they come from the people.

You are not asking a question you are stating your belief and wanting validation: "Who agrees?". You do not want opposing view points obviously because of your comment about people who say they have them and they are good dogs. You say "yea until they bite someones face off". Let me ask you a question: have YOU ever owned one.

I have a one-eyed Ger Shep Mix & a pit. They are both rescues. They were both abused. The pit is a p*ssy. I've rescued dogs, cats, ferrets, turtles, snakes. Do you want to tell ME something about animals??? Come on over & meet them. Want to know what scares the pit? If you do the "raspberry" sound.
