I've seen snails float and I thouht they were dead, then a day later they were crawling around the tank again. usually, when they are dead, your fish will eat them, leaving an empty shell.

I doubt it, when mine floats at the top, it's usually taking a vacation from crawling around. As soon as he gets close to the side and feels hungry, he'll start crawling around again. They say a dead snail sinks at the bottom, and I'm assuming it would, but since mines never croaked yet, I can only guess.

Place the floating snail to the glass. Sometimes they do get dislodged. If it doesn't grasp onto the smooth surface, remove and replace it. Things will work out.

The dude floating on top is just catching some rays!
Seriously, you may need a new mate for your bottom feeder.

Why have you got snails in your fish tank?
Soon , you'll have hundreds!
Better to buy a Plec, that is both entertaining and does a better job of tank cleaning
