You may not be able to see the heartbeat on ultrasound at five weeks ... but, you can at six weeks. I had a missed abortion previously. The baby had died at 8 weeks, but the placenta kept growing and wouldn't come out on it's own, therefore, I ended up having a D&C. So, with my next pregnancy my OB/GYN did a ultrasound at six weeks. My little guy's heartbeat was strong and clear. :)

Your baby will have a heart beat from around 3 weeks but its very tiny.so it cant normally be picked up on an ultra sound in till week 7/8. You can hear it at the doctors without scan normally after 12 weeks.

Sometimes you can see it earlier on a scan but they will normally rescan at 7 or 8 weeks if you cant cause sometimes its to small. Sometimes if the baby moves a lot you may not hear it till further along.

From personal experience (I'm not a doctor, but I've been pregnant twice), at five weeks, you are not able to see or hear a heartbeat. You can see it with an ultrasound at six weeks though, although my doctor had to point it out to me because I didn't see it at first. It's like a tiny little flash. I think it's not until 12 weeks that you'd be able to hear it with their doplar system.

I was six weeks with my last pregnancy when they did an ultrasound and found a heartbeat. So either 5/6 weeks if not this week then definitely on the sixth one. Congrats

I'm not a doctor, but I've been pregnant twice. At five weeks, you won't find a heartbeat on Doppler or on ultrasound.

I belive it does (I think it starts around 3-4 weeks, not too sure) but I do know they can pick it up on an u/sound just not on the doppler. good luck
