NETGEAR and DLINK both have WIRELESS Skype Certified headsets. That will be pretty important after you've spend awhile tethered to the PC via a 6ft USB cable on the cheaper kind. Also the new generation headsets have great noise reduction, etc.

Spend the extra money and get a set. A cheap set will be distorted or will not filter out background noise. It will sound like you're talking in a tunnel.

you get what you pay for with mics. i would suggest a nice headset/mic combo. nothing more annoying than listening to someone with a crappy mic while gaming or talking online..etc..... the headset will keep the sound from entering your mic, thus making the conversations much nicer
