Is pacifism wishful thinking?

I don't thing pacifists are fool, however, miss guided. There is no country or people on the face of the earth that will not take advantage of them.
Yet for some reason, they continue to smile, grin as if this other person will change their minds or tactics because deep down they think there is good in everyone.
They continue to talk to the Hitler and Saddam's of the world. The Hitler and Saddam;s continue to kill and go about their business while using them as fronts.
