No one knows how things would've been, we can only imagine. Any little thing can change the future. I answered a question like this, and you should read the answer (it got chosen for best answer). Here's what I wrote for that other question:

"Every single step you take makes a difference in life. I doesn't matter if you suddenly decide to make your next step an inch back from where it would've been, it still makes a difference in what happens to you next.

Now, who can say what would've happened? Noone, unless they're from an alternate timeline.

An example of how something can change your life is this: If I go to sleep now, or a minute from now, something will change. The results of whatever you do can be as small as a delay in an action of someone else, or the result could lbe as big as someone's death... or it could even result in keeping them alive.

Also, look at how some couples meet. It's totaly by accident because they either stopped to say by to a friend or left earlier than they had planned, and that made it so that the person would bump into thier future husband/wife.

Another example is this reply. Anything I say here can change your actions, whether you let it change your action consiously, or subconsiously. By reading this reply, something is going to be different, and even though it's depressing to say, you'll never be able to go back and see what would've been."

Greatly change things for whom? For me.....i miss a few and grab a few opportunities that changes my future everyday every minute. Change things for my near and dear ones?....maybe i grab and miss a few less frequently. But something that would change things for the masses...well I did never got an opportunity like that so far.

Yes I turned in my police application two days late. Needless to say they wouldn't accept it, so currently I'm a vacuum salesman with about a third the salary of a police officer.

Possibly, but if I had taken that choice, would the way things are today still have changed?
