I'll be different and say x+((y-x)/2)
x=8 and y=4, for example.
The midway point is 6.
8 + ((4-8)/2) = 8 + (-4/2) = 8 + (-2) = 8-2=6

This also gets the same result: y+((x-y)/2). So you can user either.
