"Real love isn't blind. It sees everthing, but loves anyhow"

The concept of "True Love" is most clearly and consistently explained in the movie "The Princess Bride."

Although Wesley offers the best verbal explanation, it is the actions of Buttercup which serve to most forcefully define the limitations and expressions of "True Love."

Although some philosopher's consider Wesley's return from the dead to be the supreme expression of "True Love;" Descartes, et al., note that this expression was only achieved through the use of drugs, and thus pales in comparison to Buttercup's actions.

I was a very fickle girl through my dating years. I thought I was falling in love once a month or so. I was engaged several times but it never felt right.

When I was 22 I met the love of my life and married in 1957. We had a glorious courtship. We were in love.

We have been married for 49 + years.

When I look back, I realize it was mostly a thing where we were attracted to each other, had fun, each of us having a sense of humor and we could converse well with each other. And how we could jitter bug. The crowd stood back to watch us.

You have to respect yourself in order to be respected. We had respect for each other. Yes we thought we were in love.

We had four children and went through the trials and tribulations that most married couples go through.

We sit together now and think about our life and realize that through out the years our love has grown and still growing for each other. Maybe when we married it was more like puppy love.

I have a poem that I think describes my love for my husband. It hangs on our wall along with our marriage license and pictures of us. I have shared this many times on yahoo answers.

Take my hand and walk with me,
Across the sands of time;
Hand in hand and heart to heart.
Husband . . . friend of mine.

We will share the solitude.
And walk in quiet peace.
My heart hears what your heart says,
It listens when yours speaks.

We’ve shared hearts and souls as one,
In perfect harmony;
The laughter and the tears we’ve known,
Are the sweetest melody.

For years have brought us to this place.
Across the sands of time;
We’ll walk together, till the end.
Husband . . . friend of mine.

Its the bond...

There is the friendship bond...which generally comes down to a shared understanding..

an experience you both experienced...and you both associated in the same way...to understand soemthing, you need to associate what you understand with what you already do...so if the two of you associate that 'concept' in the same way...you become one...because since you are becoming one with the concept...because of associations with all other thoughts, since your mind is just a compilation of assoications (identity), then, a sharing of this, would mean that you not only become one with the concept, but one with the friend who also associated the concept in the same way.

This bond, understanding...is what makes you friends...

same with love, but its at a more vulnerable, fundamental level that satisfies also your impulses and desires to belong, be accepted, and comfort another, or be comforted (depending on the type of love relationship...family, friendship, lover, dad, mother, etc)...to have company in a way a friend can sometimes not go..

This 'understanding' is a more deep on of each other...since both are understanind each other more fundamentally...both become one temporarily duering these encounters and still....after those, still have a bond and connection.

love is just a bond. Composed of both, the metaphysical beauty of it, of the neural process and connections....and the chemical impulse of love.

It is truelly inspiring and beautiful really.

You've made some excellent points, though you and I would definitely disagree on a few issues, which is actually a good thing. If we all think alike, none of us bother to think much at all.

I know none of you will believe me but true love = life energy. You've probably got a long way to go before you can begin to see this tho.

Silly, true love is the soul's recognition of it's counterpart in another.
