In terms of international transactions, the US dollar is still number one (widely used and readily available). Many commodities are quoted world-wide in dollar terms. The Euro is close behind, and probably the yen after that. Those same currencies are also relied upon by various governments- many hold reserves in dollars and euros...

In terms of confidence, or strength of the currency, most people would say the Swiss Franc is the leader. So I guess it depends on the context of the term 'leading currency.'

If talking about value, it's the one they have in Kuwait, because they use 24 carat gold as ink on the money. It's worth 3 times than US$.
But US$ I'd say is number one because it's accepted to be exchange in all countries.

im not really that familiar when it comes to currency.but basing on the exchange rate in our country,i guess its dinar..that currency has the highest equivalent in terms of our money here..
