Breaking Through...?

How can i break into the music industry with my singing besides going on some silly television show to do it? I mean, i suppose i would if that was what it took, but im hoping for another way.

You can start going to "open mike" nights at clubs. Many clubs have local musicians and talent nights. Also try radio stations, see if they need singers for commercials. Get a music union card and apply at recording studios as a session musician. Put an ad in the newspaper. Print flyers you can post at the university. Good luck, if you want it enough you'll get it.
