If I upgrade my security do I have to delete what I have now? And then run my new security?

How do you find a subscription key to renew Symantec Security?
Thanks

For some software, you have to uninstall the old version and then go for the newer one. For some others, the new version automatically overrides the older one. It really depends on what software you use. As for Symantec Security, I think you have to uninstall the older one, but I am not sure.

In general, most manufacturers will do whatever is necessary to make sure you can upgrade without uninstalling a previous version of the same software.

If you were to switch from Symantec to McAfee, McAfee is even smart enough to remove most versions of Symantec (and I believe the converse is true, too).

In general, however, I would recommend removing software that's likely to conflict (e.g., two similar security packages) before installing a new piece of software from a different manufacturer.

If you're upgrading with a product from the same manufacturer, I'd recommend simply installing the new version over the old (manufacturers prioritize testing this kind of upgrade scenario).

open the program
at the top right is a Help button
click it
in the menu you will see a link for the "renewal center"

Probably better to uninstall the old before installing the new version and immediately run a full scan after installation to ensure no virus squeeked by.
