I got this ring for a present and I'm just curious...it has a marking inside that says 10K and then a diamond symbol, does that symbol mean that the diamonds are real? I know 10K is the gold weight...

Anyone can stamp a symbol on the ring - it does not make it a real diamond. It has to be looked at by a professional to know for sure.

Does it have any numbers or markings on the band at all? If it says 585 that is 14k gold. It is just a different way of marking the gold. That is the common form in Europe and it basically tells how much is pure gold. It would be 58% pure gold. Just a different hallmark, so check if there is anything stamped in it. Edit: Platinum would have a numeric marking too. Find a magnifying glass and try to make the mark out better. Even sterling silver will have a mark too. I'm not sure about a .52 or.62 ? I'm curious.

No, the marking does not mean the diamond is real.
The markings inside the ring are just the gold content - the percentage of gold to the amount of other metals used in making the ring. As to the quality of the stone, you could look at it through a jeweler's loupe and see if there are any black/dark spots, inclusions or cloudiness in the stone - that would point to it not being worth very much. Or you could have the stone looked at by a jeweler and have it appraised.
Normally better stones are set in 14 or 18K.
