Most people I ever talked to told me that late 20's/early 30s is a little too "old" to have your first baby, and I should get one right now...whatever.
I'm 25 years old. I DON'T have any kids (not that I know of), and I'm still not ready for fatherhood. To each his own I guess. So what's YOUR opinion?

According to maturity level you could be getting about ready to have one if everything else is ins place. I am speaking of marriage, health, secure job ,home, savings, insurance, family and or friends for support. Not to speak of your spirituality being the same as your wife's.Most folks never plan the marriage or family . Couples just take it for granted that their mate will want to do what they want without ever discussing it. Take time and budget now for all of the items I mentioned and many more before ever thinking(or doing) anything about a baby being in your future!

Do yourself a favor and ignore the advice you have been given. I am 32 years old and just gave birth to my first child 2 1/2 months ago. I wanted to be at a point in my life where I could give my child the best possible future. I don't regret waiting. In all honesty I wouldn't have had the patience to handle a child 5 years ago. My husband, by the way, is 35.

Enjoy your life now and have a child when you are positively ready for it (both financially and emotionally). Don't stress and strain over it. If it is meant to happen it will in due course.

Early 20's/30's is not old, I think it's when you hit mid/late 30's that you are getting a little to old to have kids. Don't listen to people, you and your partner need to decide on this together and leave others out of it. If you're ready go for it, if not wait. There's no harm in waiting until you're ready, that's actually very mature.

I'd say 35 is the limit. Think about it- If you have kids at 40, then you'll be 55 when they turn 15. You'll be 60, and thinking about retiring, when they get ready for college. You'd have to work until you were 75 to pay off the student loans! If your kid waits as long as you do, you'll be 80 when your first grandchild runs around. Besides, what 45 year old has the energy to keep up with a 5 year old child?

People have children young for a reason- children are designed for young people! I think its very selfish for an older couple to have children, unless they adopt an older child. Who wants to deal with their parents dying when they're only 30?

I'm only 20, myself, and while I want to wait a few more years, I want kids when I'm around your age while I can still keep up with them!

Well, look at some of the male celebrities out there still having kids (albeit with their much younger wives). Rod Stewart recently turned 60!!! and has a young toddler.

I think that 50 is probably the oldest (for a guy) and early 40's for a woman.
