It's called 'Linea Negra' and it'll go away on it's own. There's nothing you can do to influence how dark it will get, or how long it will take to go away, either. Unless you wanna try slathering yourself with concealer or something everyday.

Honestly, it'll probably be long gone by the time you want to consider wearing something that will expose it anyway.

I had it. It started showing up in about the 8th month of pregnancy, and then got pretty dark (not as dark as some I've seen on other women, fortunately). It faded fairly quickly. I remember noticing it was lighter when my son was 2 months old, and then again when he was 3 months, and then I never really thought about it. He's almost a year old now, and it's been gone for a good long while, but I honestly can't remember which month it was that it was totally faded away.

That line is called the 'linea nigra', or "dark line". In most women, it fades after 6 weeks or so; in some, it takes a bit longer, but it is rarely permanent.

Watch out, many stores sell 'belly creams' and the like to 'prevent' or even 'cure' stretch marks / dark spots on your skin. These are almost entirely useless, and a rip-off. There is clinically nothing you can do to prevent or treat stretch marks or the linea nigra.

My advice? Be patient, and if it's bothering you, try focusing on positive changes in your body that pregnancy has caused.

Hope that helps.

I have been pregnant twice(including presently). Both times I got the "linea nigra". Don't freak out. It goes away after about 2 weeks, and is definitely NOT permanent. Besides, after the baby you will be way too tired to care about that line on your stomach, and you'll still feel way too fat to be showing that stomach off.

Mine went away 3 months after my son was born. Unfortunately, the stretch marks last forever!

Best regards,
Mari

Hmmm.... mine's gone, and I've had 4 kids. But I didn't really pay attention to how long it took. I was too busy enjoying my new babies.
