Ask him. If he refuses, refuse to do some things he asks, and tell him you're too busy or tired from taking out the garbage, doing the dishes, and cleaning out the litter box.

You could also try offering him some "clean" jobs instead - cooking, running errands, folding laundry, putting dishes away - in case his only aversion is to messy stuff and poop.

It's funny, we are just expected to prepare all the meals, wash the dishes, clean the floors, do the ironing, do the washing, tidy the bedrooms, make the beds, clean the bathroom, clean the toilet, do the vacuuming, look after the children, take them to and from school, feed them and him, break up all the fights, know all the answers, oh and feed and clean up after the cat !!! Then one day you may just SNAP!! (Like I did on Sunday) Just blow your top and start stamping your feet up and down like a 2 year old screaming about how it's not fair that every family member is such a filthy, lazy little pig, start picking food items out of the pantry and throwing them over your shoulder yelling oops sorry dropped it, spilt it, smashed it, guess the maid will have to clean it up. Run around the house naked singing at the top of your voice, "Oh I do love to live beside the seaside, oh I do love to live beside the sea.............." Make sure your voice is really whiny and annoying too. When asked by your spouse what the he... you think you are doing just tell him you are feeling hemmed in and stifled in your current job and are just taking the opportunity to spread your wings a bit. Te he he

Ha, ha, you must be joking! That question has been asked for centuries and still has no answer. My suggestion would be to sit him down at the kitchen table (with the TV off) and tell him how you need help around the house. No blaming nor name calling or temper flare-ups. Then strongly suggest a chore contract with specific jobs and responsibilities for both of you. If anyone doesn't keep their end of the contract then the other will delete one of their chores for the week. If he doesn't do one of his jobs, then maybe you won't do the cooking for a set time. Good luck!

Leave the garbage, let the dishes pile up, and let the cat box get super stinky. But chances are, you'll get fed up and deal with it.

SOO...try losing the remote, unplugging the cable....worked for me.

well, if he isn't the type to take responsiblity for his own messes and eating and basic survival and thinks that it is others' job to cater to him... then I guess you just need to stop doing it until he realizes that he is an adult... the only way women clean up after men is if the women stay home and it is pre arranged that her job will be running the home and he earns the money... those are seperate jobs.. however if the woman is a mohter as well as runnign the home.. it is only common curtiosy to help her as mothering is more then full time

When my partner would never put his clothes in the basket it drove me crazy! Yet he still expected to have clean clothes. He would leave them on the floor of our room. Eventually i put all the clothes in the doorway (it really annoyed me but..) and he got so annoyed to walk over them as the pile became very high. When he had no clothes he put them in the basket and has done since. The moral to my advice is desperate times takes desperate measures. Never forget that when he does succeed in doing what you want make sure he is appreciated as this really helps...
