I have recently been made aware that my friends uncle passed away leaving behind a garage kept but not running for the last 30 plus years 66 300 and was just curious if it is worth restoring -supposedly the body is in great condition-have not seen it yet-i would imagine it has some surface rust.

The ultimate answer to your question is how much do you like the car? A full restoration can cost upwards of $15k for a full concours restoration. However, if you are just looking to "freshen up" the car, you can do it with a paint job and some work in your garage.

The 1966 300's did not come with a Hemi - the largest motor was was the 365hp "TNT" 440 4 bbl V8.

The 66's were beautiful cars, and in my opinion the car is VERY restorable.

Some info on the car:

You could look around on http://www.allpar.com too.

A good parts source is Mitchell Motor Parts in GA:

There is most likely a classic Mopar car club in your area. Car clubs are great resources for parts and advice.

Large Chrysler-specific car shows and swap meets are also good sources for parts and connections. Three of the better ones:
Chryslers at Carlisle in Carlisle, PA
http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/

Mopar Nationals in Columbus OH
http://www.moparnats.org

Chrysler Classic events, held round the country
http://www.ccevents.com/

I hope that helps!!

There are a few car clubs devoted to Chrysler 300s. You best chance of success is to post your question on some of the club websites. Just Google Chrysler 300 car club.

Yes you can still get parts and yes it's worth restoring if it only has surface rust! '66 was one of the last good year's for Chrysler. You can check the link, I get the magazine, they have tons of parts for that car available.

Look at hemmings.com or search for, hemmings auto news.
Of course it is worth restoring! That is original Detroit Heavy Metal. Would not surprise me if it had a Stock Hemi in it.
