You are probably a kind, benevolent person that has other people's interest at heart. However, I recognize that not all people are like that. Democracy, used in the loose terms that describe a republic, holds the elected officials in check. They are accountable for their actions. With a dictatorship, while more efficient in getting things done, there is no accountability.

democracy is a natural existence of a country: to live free, and to let everyone live free
democracy might not be showing its colours now, but rest assured, in the long run, a true and sincere democracy will lead to developemnt, not just economic but also human
democracy is a system that gives one solution to the people's problems: VOTE. many don't realise the importance of this. but when u vote, u ask for something different, and even threaten to bring in something different.
democracy brings freedom, it brings opinion.
and what do these lead to?
consistency. when a popularly elected govt makes a law after broad acceptance, it will not be changed in the long run. that's consistency... that's democracy.
dictatorship can FORCE development, but it cannot sustain it. once a dictator is ousted (like our western neighbour), a new order will come in: new laws, new regulations, new conventions, new standards. that will practically mean a complete circle!
so u see, i too have questioned democracy over and over again, but i finally realised that the very fact that I can question it shows me the power of democracy

India is unlike China, China is communist but have unity. You seems to have democracy but people still dousing themselves with petrol. India have so much chaos, caste system still practise, dowry still exist and many more. Indian people looking down at their own kind, if I ask that are you form India, they say NO, from Punjab, Madras or Bombay.
Indian people will never unite to achieve democracy or Communist or even dictatorship.
They make movies and must have comedian whom making fun of another human being.
I can only say this "GOD PLEASE SAVE INDIA"

Well... lets be honest. Governments and all other organizations no matter how well designed or intended eventually evolve laws and regulations that gradually take away human rights. That is human nature. Fortunately, I will not be around by the time it is likely to happen.

Well it all goes in a loop. Even if your observation were correct. It would go like this: capitolism socialism fascism marxism communism totalitarianism and then capitolism would reform all over again. No worries chief.
