we have this notion that a wman in distress needs a man assitance. Woman are natually parternal and men are naturally fixers. We want to fix things and feel good when we do. And what better way than to be rewarded by affection from the damsel. There are two things men want to do. Fix + Sex = Easy

I personally believe it is the testosterone and adrenalie that gives them a high in dangerous situations that has them trying to go on dangerous missions. Also the hug and kiss of gratiture after the deed helps to give their ego a greater boost. Just like bungee jumping. well the next part is universally obvious which brain is thinking there.

we like to be the hero,everybody wants to be a hero,just kinda natural for most guys...but with enough fear any guy will punk out,like say somebody has a gun,most guys would run,a few would try to stop him...it's not so much about rescuing the girl in particular,it's just about being somebody's knight in shining armor
