Are you obese? If so, then your problem may just be pleuracy. Its just a condition of the tissues surrounding the lungs becoming inflamed. Its not a HUGE deal, and theres no real test to detect it. The best thing to do is just take a couple Ibuprofen and see if this settles it. If your doctor knows about it and he hasn't diagnosed you, then I wouldn't worry. Just sit back when it comes upon you. The stabbing pain will end soon, and you will live through it. take slow shallow breaths and be still.. the pain will subside.

Yes get to your doc asap.Underneath your L.breast is your stomach as well, your heart is actually in the middle of your chest but angles over to the l. side. Do you get pain down your L.arm or in your back like a tight feeling, aband around you or having trouble breathing afterward?. Then go ASAP and have an ECG to check that your not having angina attacks, your doc will organise that. Or your could have a number of things, ulcer in the stomach, broken rib, who knows, just see your doc. ok
