Greetings and thank you ahead of time.
I had a baby 2 months ago, breastfed for one month, and have yet to start my period(other than the heavy flow after birth)
I had a condom slip off and am terrified.
Since my hormones are off would a pregnacy test even be accurate? and I know that i "could" be preggo again arent the chances really low?

You could be pregnant again, and a test would be accurate. Your body stops producing the hormone HcG about midway through your pregnancy so a positive reading would mean your body is producing the hormone anew because of a new pregnancy. Having breastfed for a month, your body may still be awash with oxytocin and may not yet start menstruating. I started menstruating right on time only one month after the baby was born each time and I was breastfeeding (and continued to). So, you never know, every body is different. Count out 14-17 days from the day after the condom slipped off and take a test. Until that day, don't drink and don't take any drugs (narcotics or prescription) until you have cleared it with your doctor but then don't fret. You can't change what happened and worrying will not help the present or the future. You have to let it go and focus on caring for your new baby until you actually know. (If you are no longer breastfeeding, it is time to think about whether you want to take birth control pills along with using the condoms etc, talk to your Ob-Gyn or your regular family doc, etc).
Good luck, and congrats on the new little sprout.

Some women don't get a period for months after. I'm not sure if it's safe, but I heard it a lot lately. You could be pregnant. you have the same chance as before you got pregnant. As for the hormones....I think you would be able to get a positive reading. BUT I am not totally sure. I hope the best, good luck.

Even though your hormones are, in general, still out-of-whack, a pregnancy test only tests for the presence of a hormone that would be in your urine ONLY if you were pregnant.

That is, if you take a pregnancy test and it is positive, then, barring a false positive, you are pregnant and should go to the doctor.

But the residual hormones in your body should not interfere with a pregnancy test's results.

Hope that helps.

Usually, if you are breast feeding...the chances of getting pregnant are very low and many women do not get their periods for awhile...especially while breast feeding. Call your obgyn or midwife and let them know what happened. They will advice you on what they think and what you should do!! Good luck!!
