Why do some stand by the leader (coach) regardless of the policy (play)?

Stupidity, ignorance, and closed-mindedness are the reasons. This goes for extremists in both political camps.

I treat it like a drinking game.
1 drink everytime they say terror, terrorist, terrorism, Iraq, liberty, freedom, democracy, insurgency, etc.
2 drinks for the phrases War on Terror, Axis of Evil, cut-and-run, stay-the-course.
5 drinks for anytime Bill O'Reilly cuts off the mic of his guest.
10 drinks everytime they mention Osama bin Laden, man its been awhile since anyone's mentioned him.
Finish your beer when Zell Miller challenges someone to a duel.
