Yeah, you wanna go for an HP Photosmart AIO.

I don't know what some of the other answerer's have been drinking, but the 6-cartridge HP printers have the lowest cost of ink on the market right now, as far as OEM ink is concerned. And Epson? Forget about it.

You want good photos with low cost. Here are the industry's top printers as far as copy/scan/fax/print/photos are concerned:

Epson (forget about this brand if you want the fax because they basically can't be found with fax). Even without the fax, a set of ink for these guys' photo printers will cost you $100 (6 cartridges at $15 each). Cost per photo printed on one of these will be around 55 cents each. And quality, while good, is definately not worth the cost.

Canon= great photos, but like Epson, not yet cost efficient. A set of ink for a Canon printer that does photos will still be between $70 and $80, and that doesn't include having to buy Canon's expensive photo paper. If you must have a Canon, however, a good printer to look into would be the MP830. Cost per photo is the same as Epson.

HP. This is my choice. Like the Epson, the HP Photosmart printers take 6 cartridges. However, to gain greater marketshare, HP sells all 6 cartridges in a combo that also contains 150 sheets of 4x6 photo paper for $36. This brings the cost per photo done on the HP's down to 24 cents per print. Considering that the Photos are waterproof, fade resistant and smudge resistant for 100 years makes these the best printer for printing photos. Quality of photo is great. If you are wanting the fax, the best bet would be the HP Photosmart C6180. This printer has:

Copy/Scan/Fax/Print capabilities as well as a 2.5 inch screen for viewing/editing photos without the need of a PC.

Built-In wired and wireless networking as well as Bluetooth capabilities.

Automatic Document Feeder as well as optional two-sided printing.

The cost of the HP Photosmart C6180 is normally $299 but I think it's on sale this week at Best Buy for around $250. I own the model below the C6180 which is the C5180 (does not have fax), but the cartridge system is the same. Photos are awesome. Ink is cheap ($10 per cartridge if you do not buy the pack) and the ink lasts a while. Whatever you decide on, happy shopping!

I've included a link that describes the C6180.

I use the HP LaserJet 3030 myself. So far everything that I have copied/scanned and printed has been of very good quality. The fax seems to be working just fine as well. I have not had to replace the ink yet so don't know the cost there, but the machine cost me around the $190 mark.
