I live in Tucson, Az, and it snowed last night. It was pretty heavy and the snow stuck to the ground, it was so weird seeing snow on a cactus. Anyways, my sister and I took a walk, and we were seeing eerie green colored lightning. We did not actually see the bolt, but the flash was significant enough to know that it was lightning. I thought that lightning could only occur in warmer weather? Can anyone explain this please?

The static charges - although rare - can occur during snow storms and during my time in the Northeastern United States I have seen lightning during snow storms. However, I admit it is very rare - then again snow in Tucson, AZ is rare too.

Good Luck!!!

Lightning is produced by cumulonimbus cloud. While cumulonimbus is more common in warmer weather it has been recorded in all seasons on all continents including Antarctica. Cumulonimbus cloud is quite capable of producing snow as well as lightning and, although uncommon, it is hardly remarkable.

Hope you all got lots of water, I think I might move down there now.. lol works the same as thunder storms in warm weather. clouds can build up charges even in the cold,

I even have truly ignored out. like to hearken to thunderstorms and watch the lightening. like to work out the snow whilst it incredibly isn't any longer tousled with the tracks and all slushy. to observe a heavy snow on the hours of darkness with an entire moon is the main stunning ingredient I even have ever look. to work out all 3 at as quickly as could be great. fortunate you! became it frightening even with the undeniable fact that?attempt to get a image of this, it can be a keeper! something to physique.
