I do. I work with juvies and as soon as the wage increase was put into effect, all of these students had their jobs suspended. They do not have enough funding to cover vocational ed jobs at 2 dollars an hour more.

I imagine a lot of this is going to happen soon.

Good job sticking up (sticking it to) for the little guy democrats! Youve just increased the unemployment.

I would not have a link, because these are students I work with on a daily basis and yes they have all already lost their jobs because of the coming increase and no more will be hired.

This is the absolute truth. I work in a locked facility a "reform" type school in AZ. The minimum wage was voted on here and passed, so in AZ it is the law, and it will go into effect soon. All the kids that were paid in vocational education training at this one school have ALREADY lost their jobs. That is the truth. You won't hear about it on the news. But how often do you hear about schools specifically for juvenile offenders anyway, these kids are locked up.

Do you have a link to all these layoffs?
I've not heard this in any news. Surely the talking heads on am radio would be all over this, if true.

The minimum wage bill has not been signed into law yet, nor has it even reached the Senate floor. The Senate is really taking thier time on alot of these bills the House has passed so far. It may be a while before the Senate actually deals with this issue, so it may be premature to begin terminating jobs, but you should definitely prepare to, because I think it will become law.

I can see it coming. Yet I also see the reason the increase was called for. But then most folks do not see how an increase to the cost of transportation is passed onto the consumer through price hikes of goods.

What the F are you talking about??? They haven't even passed it yet!! Get your facts straight before you start spreading your lies around the internet.. Sheesh!!

Whatever people!! First you say raising the minimum wage is pointless because nobody makes it. Now you say it will cause unemployment because it hurts companies soo much.. If nobody makes it, how would it hurt companies that are not paying it anyways??

It hasn't been put into effect yet. And even when it is, any backlash won't occur immediately.
