The Kingdom Hearts series is a good RPG series, yet the asker is wanting TURN-BASED RPGs. Nowadays, it's hard to find a good turn-based RPG without it being overwhelmed by action RPGs. I do remember a few, however. You can try... - Xenosaga series (3 games) - Wild Arms series - Grandia series - Persona 3 Fes (and Persona 4 when it comes out) - Shadow Hearts series (3 games) Those are only a few I remember, but you can also try SRPGs, since they're technically turn-based as well. Your best bet would be any game made by Nippon Ichi (or NIS America) such as Disgaea, Phantom Brave, or Makai Kingdom. As for Action RPGs, other than the Kingdom Hearts series, some great considerations would be Rogue Galaxy, the Tales of games (Legendia and the Abyss), Radiata Stories, or Musashi Samurai Legend (I do suggest the first game, however).

Shin Megami Tensi: Nocturne

As superdork said, definitely try out the Final Fantasy Universe (7, 8, 9, 10, 10-2, 11 [online MMORPG only], and 12). Usually fans use roman numerals to represent the titles though.

FFXII is probably the most in depth game - 7 and 10 have received the best reviews.

Suikoden(3, 4, 5), Xenosaga series, Tales of The Abyss, Tales of Legendia, Okami, Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria, Kingdom Hearts I and II, Star Ocean: Till The End Of Time, Radiata Stories, Wild Arms 4, Shadow Hearts: Covenant.
(Well, some of them has a short story, but they're enjoyable nevertheless. I've played them myself, so I can say they're good. And some are quite rare now, though.)
