I have a 1998 Honda Accord. I replaced the factory stereo with a popular after market brand. Now, the following lights do not work on my dashboard (when the lights are turned on at night):
Odometer display (LCD numbers appear but will not be illuminated; gas, oil pressure, tach and speedometer lights work)
Interior temperature dial
Interior temperature display (LCD numbers work, but no illumination on screen)
"Auto" button illumination
A/C button illumination

If all of the fuses are in fact in working order, which I am 95% certain all fuses are in working order, I suspect my symptoms indicate a wiring problem created by the factory stereo replacement. Does anyone have any experience with these symptoms? Has anyone been able to identify the problem? Most importantly, has anyone been able to get all of the interior dashboard lights working?

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Thanks for your suggestions. I checked the fuses and I believe they are all intact. Additionally, the pairs of fuse / breaker combinations do not indicate any blown fuses.
So...I'm 90% sure it must be a wiring thing. I haven't mustered up the courage (or time) to take apart the dashboard.
Thank you very much for your assistance!

This is a common problem, you need to check all wiring connections, they must be tight, the bulbs may be burned out, but I suspect it's just a lose connection somewhere breaking that circuit. (what you describe is all on one circuit) re-check the fuse, you can't go by looking at it, try another, or test the fuse again first. You may have to go as far as pulling the dash (hard work) to get your multimeter to the sockets to check continuity.(tiny 12 volt bulbs) , it is unlikely that you would have several blow at once, so it is probably a coroded or lose wire. An experienced mechanic at a dealer who has seen this over and over and over, could give both of us a better answer. I elected to just carry a small flashlight in my armwrest to see what buttons to push at night. Because I hate having to pay top dollar for that experience.

It's very possible that you burned out the dash light dimmer module by connecting a wire wrong.

you probably did not connect the dimming wire to the radio. dashboard lights are supposed to go dim when you turn your parking light or headlights on. since you say they dim even lower, the connections are off.

reference this website to check the wire diagrams.

in case you seem at ur speedometer, there are 2 knobs on the bottom; one on the letf and one on the right. the only on the right is pushed to reset the vacation meter. the only on the left is turned around to modify the brightness of the dashboard. Turning the left knob clockwise makes the dashboard light fixtures brighter. perhaps this would settle on your difficulty.

I'm not totally sure but I would pull deck out and make sure something wasn't unplugged/disconnected accidentally while installing stereo. good luck
