We live in Dallas, Texas if that helps. He was convicted of a felony a few years back but he still applied to some medical schools in the state. Some schools gave him interviews but some of the schools he applied to rejected him without an interview. Since he had some interviews, does he have a chance? I mean, there are so many qualified applicants that apply to medical schools, it seems like he doesn't have a good chance. But he does have good grades and got a good score on the MCAT.

He can be accepted in school unless the school determins that the felony conviction put other students at risk. However, the state licence is another story. Each state has different rules. Your friend will want to check with each state he wants to get licenced in. Some states are out of control in perminently penalizing felony convictions. I suspect TX is one of those.

I think the biggest issue is getting a medical license and finding patients who wouldn't care about that. I'd think that if a student can't benefit from med school in any way (because he can't get a career in the med field) then they are probably unlikely to admit him because of that. Most med schools are there to train serious future doctors, not people who are just going there for fun. And because space is limited they normally are pretty selective. I guess he should have thought about breaking the law because now he may have no chance in the med field.

Maybe he should consider research or pharmacy.

Obtaining a medical license might be the hardest part. Chances are he has a fight ahead of him unfortunately. Any chance of him getting his record cleared? Thats his best hope probably.
