isn't it confusing that they have yellow skin but they have black people's hair i.e. marge simpson!

I honestly believe they are white. In the episode where they explain the origin of Lisa's Sax they fill out an application for pre-k and they ask for a discount or a voucher and the lady says that since they don't have any ethnic back round such as Indian there is nothing they can do for them. And Homer attempts to come up with a Mexican accent.

In one episode, Homer was scared that if his father married Marge's mother, he and Marge's will brother and sister, also their children will be mutated freaks with five fingers (unlike on how they were drawn with four hands).
Then after he said that, a brief scene was shown with Bart, Lisa, and Maggie as 'realistic' looking blond white American children with five fingered hands, which freaked Homer.
In short, The Simpsons are 'White Trash', but due the coloring was used on the show, they look like 'Yellow Trash'.

They are yellow. In the Simpsons universe Yellow is the predominant race. Essentially it equates to white.

Why? I think they are supposed to be conglomerations of every man, they even have four fingers instead of five. If they were considered to be one race would that make any difference at all or are you trying to incite a riot?

They are hoplelessly caucasian (as you have Lenny, Dr. Hibbert and Bleeding Gums Murphy, all of whom are "black")
