A nautical knot is equal to 1.150779 miles/hour. But, knots per hour isn't an accurate portail or speed. Bear in mind that there is no relationship between speed (knots) on water & speed (mph/kph) on land as there are several factors to be considered. Speed/Distance on land is always fixed as land is immovable, whereas water has current flowing with or against the vehicle. Thus, the speed relationship between the vehicle & the surface it travels on alters constantly. Something else needed to determine the speed would be what kind of ship you are talking about. Also, how high is the water? What is the wind current? You see, to accurately answer this question, I simply do not have all the information needed.

345.23 MPH. A knot, a nautical mile, is roughly 2025 yards (actually defined as 1852 meters which was derived from seconds of arc from the circumference of the Earth and is 2025.37 yards, but when I was in the Navy, we rounded it to 2025 yards for ease of calculation.). A statute mile is 1760 yards. Simply multipy knots by 2025 and divide by 1760 to convert nautical miles to statute miles. It is close enough to the actual answer at the speed ships travel. We used this in calculating speed based on turns of the screw. The theoretical speed of a ship can be determined from the pitch of the screw (propellor) which is measured in feet of travel per turn, times the speed of rotation per unit time divided by 2025, which would give calculated speed in knots. So, when the control room orders turns for 10 knots, we would adjust the throttle to make the correct turns to make the correct speed. I'm talking submarines here, with a single screw.
