I am a freshmen in college, and since I know little about college, I get asked alot from people about my major. I tell them Child Development in Practition. After that, they ask, what's your minor then? Thats where I get stumped. I have no clue what they are talking about. What the heck does that mean?

A minor is a study in something outside of your chosen field.
Child psychology would be a example.

In college my major was Psyc. To earn a degree for my major, I had to take roughly 30 credit hours in psyc classes. (plus the plethora of prerequisite classes). My minors required about half that.

You don't have to have a minor. Some people have a secondary focus, or "minor."

Just tell them you don't have one at this time.
