When the Best buy people come to install the router, they should set up your laptop to work with it, too, so don't worry about that part (If they don't, demand your money back:P) And you don't have to do anything with the phone company or anything, Best Buy will set everything up. If you want to use the laptop with the Internet directly (Which there's not really a point in doing, but if you did have as reason to, I'll explain) you can simply unplug a telephone looking cable from the back of your new router (it is slightly bigger than a telephone cord, and there will probably be two in which you would unplug the one labeled "WAN") and pug it into any place it will fit o your laptop. So, in a box, you don't have to deal with any wireless stuff, but for wired:Unplug cable labeled WAN from router, plug it into laptop, and boom, you should be on the Internet.

DSL is your main connection to the internet. A router uses this connection and devides it up between two or more computers so they may share the same internet connection.

When the router installation is complete you will be able to access the internet immediately. The router works through your DSL connection and once it is installed and configured it should be fine. You won't have to worry about plugging in your laptop to your DSL connection, and you will be able to access the internet from anywhere inside your house with the wireless internet.

They will install the router to your DSL modem. Your laptop has a wireless adapter so when they are done you will be able to turn your laptop on and connect to the internet. If you want to use your DSL before they come to install the wireless router you need to attach either the ethernet cable or the usb cable that came with your DSL modem directly to the computer. If you have problems with that call your ISP and they can walk you through it.

Write down all the above questions and ask the Best Buy computer geeks. Also, write down their answers. This is the best way. Everyone's situation is unique - get your answers from the "horse's mouth."
