First of all, my husband knows better than to tell me what to do! Second, I am not a dog, nor am I a child, so I certainly don't have to "obey" him...and my reason for "disobeying" (in your words) him, is that I'll quit my job when I want to quit...not when I'm demanded to do so! Also, women not having a job causes most men to have their little egotistical power trip, b/c they are the only one working and "bringing home all of the bacon", and that gives them a great excuse for just about anything in their minds...and gives the husband a gread opportunity to throw it up in their wives faces! I enjoy working b/c it gets me out of the house and I know that I'm making my own money and helping do my share.

I wouldn't really want to disobey him but I love my job. I like the satisfaction I get from going to work and earning some money.
I love the social side of it aswel. Working keeps me stimulated. I'd have to take into account his reasons for not wanting me to work. If they are valid and relationship straining then I'd have to seriously con cider. Marriage is about compromise. If your working to many hours maybe you could cut back etc.
Try to talk to him about it if you don't want to quit.
Negotiate a little.

I quit when my husband said I didn't need to work anymore if I didn't want to.

He would never "tell" me what to do....and since he's not my father I can't "disobey" him.

You're either a little older or you're in a time-warp.

obedience is not a word considered in my house. My husband does not run around giving orders, he is loving and respectful and laid back. If he came to me and wanted me to quit a job I was workign for some reason, I would listen to his reasons, and we woulddiscuss it and come to an agreement one way or another.
