I think the idea of that saying is to do with our perception of things happening right now. We're not sure what will happen if things went a different way, and we tend to think that things would be better had we gone in a different direction.

I certainly think sometimes the grass is greener on the other side, simply because at that particular time I might be having a hard time where I am at that time.

Its your own decision if you want to risk going where the grass is greener, or stay and fix what u have here. Because if you haven't learn to fix what you have here, then eventually that grass isn't going to be green for very long.

i guess it would really depend on what side you are on now wouldnt it?!?!
If you are on the greener side then the answer would be NO, its not greener and vise versa.
I dont exactly know 100% on where the phrase came from but this is how our family understood it.
Parents are Scotish and we all live in the US. At some point when we were younger, we would always hear that phrase and so that became "the other side". Since it is raining more frequenty over there.... it is greener.
... and that... is just 1 opinion.

In reality, well depends on your situation some days are better than other and most importantly it depends on how whom u r comparing to. However in genera, people tend to think it's greener on the side until they get there.

Maybe for a short time, but it can turn brown and ugly just as easily as the side you were on before. Or it can look pretty and green but be infested by grubs and bugs that will destroy it eventually.

Just depending on your mood:
Some days are diamonds, some days are coals..

Maybe it's greener, but more muddier?

No, it is not only not greener...it lacks the shade quality present on our side.

Remember: Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's grass.

Exd 20:17 ¶ Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ***, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour's.
