I was going to suggest the same thing as Kimmy, except that I use paper towels instead of the paper bags.

I use "Gojo" hand cleaner. Available at auto parts stores. It will take out the wax, but do not heat the wax, it will set in any color. Use the gojo and then follow it up with water and then carpet cleaner.

How much wax is this on the carpet? I would say boil some water and pour it on the spot. that'll soften it up.

brown paper sack and a hot iron. put the sack on the wax and run the iron over it till the wax soaks on the sack
