My camper caught fire,i was not there.But every body there said there was a heck of a lighting storm.First report said lighting.Now the insurance is saying no lighting with in 5 to 6 miles.Satelite i guess.Any help.

Any competent arson investigator would be able to tell how the caravan was fired. If it was lighting, there would be an entry point. If you left the smores on the stove, the stove would show up as an obvious starting point. If there was a gas leak that was sparked by an electrical switching event, there would be obvious signs.

Surely the insurance company can't deny liability because it wasn't a lightning strike. Unless it was done on purpose, or you were criminally negligent, don't they still have to pay??

5-6 , miles is not sufficient to preclude lightning.

Check all electrical devices connected to the trailer, particularly the grounded ones from an outside source. Check also the area around the camper. If there is evidence of extreme heat there, then lightning is a strong possibility.

You may also be a victim of vandalism or negligence.

Hi. You could argue that lightning can reach much farther than 6 miles from a storm.
