...I heard there are places that come to your house and collect old materials like wood, drywall, etc. and give u cash for it. I guess they recycle those materials.

I'm rehabbing my house & wanted to know where I can contact people or companies that do this.

(In or around Chicago, IL)

Thanx!

Dude that old weathered wood in good shape can bring you some real money. Barn wood is really in high demand.
Contact a local "refurbishing company" ask the Ace Hardware dudes. they will know them. The Antique folks will too. Since most look for hardware there.

Drywall-trash
MDF or fiberboard-trash

I knew a guy that got $50 per 12' plank off his barn, several thousand dollars he made. It was that weathered gray pinewood. Later found out the guy resold them for 4x's that amount per item. Made them into a custom living room and a resturant too. Oh well.! You never know.

Depends on the materials and your location in the country. Hazardous material you will have to pay for but such material such as wood, plaster and concrete you can deposit in places that are looking for landfill. Now the electrical wiring you can sell to recycle. Also if any of the other fixtures or construction aspect is vintage you can sell as antique.
