...I heard there are places that come to your house and collect old materials like wood, drywall, etc. and give u cash for it. I guess they recycle those materials.

I'm rehabbing my house & wanted to know where I can contact people or companies that do this.

(In or around Chicago, IL)

Thanx!

I too live in California, and there are demolition companies that make a living by recycling old building materials. Although a lot of it may end up in the dump, usable lumber generally goes to Mexico. You probably would have to pay a demolition company, and they may not do small jobs.

If you've got appliances or fixtures that are in good condition, but just not right for your rehabbed house, you might consider donating them to your local Habitat for Humanity Restore. They'll sell them for pennies on the dollar to raise funds for building projects, and you'll get a tax deduction.

Wood, sheet rock and so forth are as a substitute low worth materials and would no longer convey a lot except it is exotic or anyone wishes it to check anything they have already got. As a rule most of the metal substances in a home are very so much recyclable and will also be offered to salvage yards. Be definite to variety it earlier than you convey it in as combined metals will deliver less cash. For illustration metal screws and rivets in steel plate.

I live in the South and alot of folks buy older homes and fix them up. We do have people who will go around and buy old sinks and Household Fixtures and even outside bricks. They are using them to put in older homes to maintain that Vintage Look. Alot are listed in the Want Ads in your Local Paper. Try looking there and hopefully that will help.

The best you can expect is for them to haul it away for free. There's not much money in recycling. Normally they can't afford to pay you and still make a profit.

You can try but as long as someone removes it for FREE you still save money as you won't have to haul it to the dump and pay for its disposal
