Hi. All dogs are descended from gray wolves. They were pack hunters and lived anywhere there was game for them to hunt.

The ancestors of today's domestic dogs were indeed in the wolf family, but I don't think it is entirely clear exactly which wolf species was the "original." That being said, those ancestors would have been found almost anywhere humans could be found, since the remains of human hunts are what drew them into the "clutches" of humans to begin with.

The "original, natural" habitat of ancestral dogs would most likely have been the same as that of wolves today -- just about anywhere food could be found.

according to national geographic. they evolved from wolves. they became domesticated because the non alpha males of the pack were run off and figured out that they could eat and stay warm by following humans. over time they got closer and closer until they became working partners with humans. eventually diffrent breeds evolved for several reasons. look it up!
