The second trimester is often seen as the safest time to travel during pregnancy, having moved through the tenuous first few months. Also, the second trimester is not full of risk for premature labor, unlike the third trimester which airlines can come to fear because of the possibility of premature labor, and the safety of the passengers. There are considerations like whether a seat belt can fit safely, economy class syndrome (or deep vein thrombosis - essentially blood clots that can form during long flights), and violent turbulence. Given such possible risks, it is again important for the pregnant passenger to verify that air travel will not complicate her pregnancy.

I flew many times while pregnant. The latest flight was when I was 8 1/2 months. I had a healthy pregnancy and I guess I was lucky enough to not "show" strongly, so no one stopped me from getting on the plane. I'd just place a call to the doc and make sure he's all right with it.

You can travel up to the last trimiester of your pregnancy in most normal pregnancies. Although, you should check with your doctor to make sure it is safe for you to travel, and check with the airlines if you are further along, what their specific limits in pregnancy travel are. There are some limitations among the different airlines, and some doctors may not want you traveling by air if you have specific health problems.

Last year, I flew to Ft. Lauderdale when I was three months pregnant. The airline wouldn't take me if I was more than 32 wks, and the cruise line I was going on wouldn't take me if I was more than 25 wks.

Check the website of the airline you plan on using to see if it will tell you, and always check with your dr. and get a note if you are traveling while pregnant.

You are not allowed to fly between weeks 1 - 21( first trimester). And most airlines do not allow woman to fly after 28 weeks. So i would say between 21 - 28 weeks. I´m 18 weeks pregnant and leaving for South Africa on the 23rd of Feb for 5 weeks. I had to change my flight as they refused to let me fly after 28 weeks.

I think it just has to do with your comfort level. I flew when i was 8 months pregnant. i always got air sick before then though, and yet i did again that time, but it didn't hurt the baby, it didn't make me feel any different.

Yes you can. You can up to your two weeks till your due date but need a doctor's notice and signature. It also depends on the airline. Funny, I had just looked that up yesterday. = ]]
