I took a pregnancy test, it was an ept, which is a plus sign is positive, and a minus if negative...well, at first i thought it was negative then i looked at it again and there is a faint line going up and down, resulting in a plus sign, i ran it up to my husband and he agreed that there was a line, now my question is, do you think that it could be wrong, because the line is so faint. Now also i am on trazadone for sleeping, should i not take it tonight?

I would definitely postpone taking any medications, not just the sleeping pill, until you see a Dr. and know for sure. False negatives are very common, but false positives are rare. If it's a little faint, it's because of the amount of hormone HCG in your body. If you're very early on there's not enough to make it really dark. Run out and get another test (actually, don't most packages have 2 in it?) and follow the instructions to the letter. Meaning, it's best to take a pregnancy test as soon as you get up in the morning, the first time you go to the bathroom, otherwise, make sure your urine has been in your bladder at least 4 hours. Don't drink massive amounts of liquid trying to make yourself have to pee b/c it can dillute the HCG giving you a false negative or a really faint positive. A false negative usually only happens when the test is done too soon, and false positive is usually caused by a very early miscarriage.
If the second test comes back positive as well, definitely time to see a Dr., even if the results are faint. If it looks positive at all, it is.

A line is a line. No matter how faint it may appear, if there is any trace of a line whatsoever, you have HCG in your system. The only chance of a false positive would be if you were on certain types of hormone therapy, and even then chances of a false positive are slim. Trazedone is for sleeping, but it is also a anti-depressant. It is a level 3, which means it could and could not have adverse effects on your unborn child. Most psychotropic medications are level 3s. However, you do NOT want to just stop taking trazedone. This is something your doctor is going to have to wean you off of slowly. My suggestion is to go see your doctor. Tell them about the EPT test. They will do an in office urine test first to determine if you are pregnant. If nothing shows, they will do a blood test. Then, if you are indeed pregnant, your doctor will take you off the trazedone. Do not do anything right now. Just call your doctor in the morning and make an appointment. Blessings to you and your family.

I took the same test and the line going across was very faint and I'm now 17 1/2 weeks along. I would retest in the morning if possible. About the trazadone call the hospital about it and say you think you might be pregnant and see what they have to say.

I'd stop taking your meds for now until you can get to the doctor and get a blood test. Usually any positive indication on a home pregnancy test means baby on the way. Better to be safe than sorry. Plus, the bonus of the first trimester is you won't need those sleeping pills anyway because you'll want to sleep all the time! Good luck!

I would take another test. Try doing the digital tests. Once before, when I thought I was, I took the + and - ones, and mine looked negative, but had a light pink line going across. So then I started using the digital tests. Those pop up pregnant or not pregnant which is way much clearer!

The tests I have taken always specify that a faint line is a line. If you saw it during the testing time in the directions, it is probably a positive. If it was me, I would test again right away to be sure. I would hold off on the meds until you know for sure/talk to your doc.

Take another test in two days if it's still positive you are definately pregnant. Took me 5 EPT test to believe it. As I was told " A line, in a line" You don't just have high HCG in your body without being pregnant. Don't take your sleeping medicine. Or call a hospital to talk to a nurse for advice. Good luck.

it could be right as long as you read it in time a faint line could just mean that you are newly pregnanct and your hormones arent that high yet. but if you read the test after 10 minutes the test is not accurate as a "ghost" line will appear. Retest to be sure. AS far as your meds im not sure if those are safe or not, use your best judgement but you should not completly stop anything prescribed until you know for sure that you are expecting or after talking with a dr.

Test again in another day or two.
Call a local pharmacy and ask if you can take trazadone while pg
There are usually at least one pharmacy open 24/7 in towns.
It isn't worth the risk of taking something that might harm a baby.

Stop taking Meds and see doctor tomorrow. Also, grab another test if your curious. A line is usually a line no matter how faint. I hope this means congratualtions. And please pick a name with a normal spelling and try not to change the rules of the English Language while doing so! :)
