It would be quite nice if people would stop insulting my intelligence. I have neither a book to figure out these problems nor the patience. Frankly, it is late and I am exhausted from running for an hour at 7 this morning on no sleep thanks to Starbuck's wonderful coffee. This is yahoo answers. I ask a question. You give me the answer. No book huh? I will help you here. I have posted the wikipedia page for future refrence where it talks about prefixes in the SI system, which is I am sure the point of this part of the assignment.
In the metric (SI) system, you have only a few base units which all other units are derived from in powers of ten. This is different than the English system used in the United States where everything is based on seemingly random intervals.
For example: Length in the metric system is meters
1 centimeter = 1/100 of a meter
1 HECTOmeter = 100 meters
1 kilometer = 1000 meters
1 MEGAmeter = 1,000,000 meters
So if I traveled, say 75 kilometers and wanted to know how far that is in meters I would multiply as follows:
75 km * 1000 meters/km = 75,000 meters
I hope this explanation helps you a little.
I personally find it frustrating when people come on here to have other people do thier homework for them.
